About Me
I grew up in East Orange, New Jersey, the daughter of an elementary school teacher and a Baptist minister.
As a youngster, I often wove fanciful tales for my companions when we walked to and from school. This insured my always having company, because they never knew what story would come next.
I have been a pediatric nurse; medical technologist; girl scout leader and trainer; and an activity counselor for homeless children in a county shelter. These life experiences led me to my ultimate career as a teacher at Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, NJ. There I taught first through 3rd grades, science, and math. After retiring, I worked in education with Native Americans on the Salt River Maricopa-Pima Reservation in Scottsdale Arizona.
My husband, Roland, and I have four children and six grandchildren. We love Australian Shepherd dogs. Our current dog, Jodi, is a lively puppy who was born in January, 2010. My family and animals have been inspiration for much of my writing.
I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and now reside in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA. Private Cathay’s Secret is my first novel.
